Our role in the system
TCI holds a unique position – our role in the system is to bridge the gap between implementation science and practice.
In our work with a wide variety of professionals — who are in a diversity of fields at different levels of the system across multiple countries — we primarily play a support role yet we are rarely the people supporting local implementation teams.
We consider ourselves as a secondary or tertiary support. In other words, we support others to support implementation. We do this through capacity building and other kinds of support (e.g., technical assistance) on both how to implement and how to support others to implement.
Some examples of our work include:
Developing a statewide implementation support infrastructure for social and emotional learning working with the statewide planning team and county offices of education in order to support district and school staff with implementation
Facilitating implementation planning with a national intermediary healthcare organization to select and use a range of change strategies that can be adapted at the local level yet remain connected to barriers and facilitators through behavior change theory
Working with an non-governmental organization to help researchers strengthen the implementation science components of their proposals using a practice lens
We have also established an international reputation for our online courses and workshops that teach the fundamentals of implementation science in practical ways.
